Reader Submissions

The best pages of a family paper are written by its readers. Sending us your story costs nothing. If we print it, you are credited by name as a Featured Contributor.

What you can send

• Family Stories: A true story from your own family, in your own words.
• Recipes: A family recipe, with whose it was and where it came from.
• Letters: An old family letter you own, or a new letter written from one of our prompts.
• Photo Mysteries: An unnamed family photograph you own, with every clue you have.
• Remembrances for Beyond the Headstone.
• Old-newspaper finds about your own family, with the paper and date.

How to send

E-mail hello@firesidegazette.com with your name, the town you write from, and your piece in the body of the message or as an attachment. Every submission is read by the editor.

The ground rules

• Free. There is no charge to submit, and no charge to be printed.
• Your own work. Send only what you wrote or photographs and papers you own or have permission to share.
• True stories are true. Tell us if anything is a family tradition rather than a documented fact.
• Permission and credit. Nothing is printed without your permission. Published pieces carry your name and the credit "Featured Contributor."
• Editing. We may shorten pieces to fit the page and will check names and dates with you.
• Privacy. Tell us about living people you mention; we leave out details they would not want printed.

Sponsored items and paid listings

Reader submissions are never paid placements. Separately, the paper may later offer clearly labeled sponsored items and paid remembrance listings. Every one will be marked "Sponsored" or "Paid Listing." Prices have not been set, and nothing can be bought on this website.
